4:23 (Dow Jones) An FDA panel reviewing lupus drug Benlysta, co-developed by Human Genome Sciences (HGSI) and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), turns a bit more negative after some panel members raise questions whether clinical trials showed real benefit from the drug. Big question surrounds lack of benefit in African American patients, a group that tends to have more severe versions of the disease. Lupus has proved to be a difficult area for drug development, partly because the varied nature of its symptoms make it hard to prove a drug works through a large clinical trial. A vote is expected shortly.
