DJ ECB Buying Italian, Spanish Bonds - Traders
LONDON (Dow Jones)--The European Central Bank is buying Italian and Spanish government bonds in the secondary market, two traders familiar with the matter said Thursday.
Yields on Italian and Spanish government bonds remained high, with the 10-year Italian bond yield trading at 6.32%, 16 basis points higher than Wednesday. The 10-year Italian/German yield spread was 17 basis points wider at 451 basis points, having hit a euro-era wide of 455 basis points earlier Thursday.
The 10-year Spanish bond yield rose 12 basis points to 5.57%.
