German stocks - Factors to watch on May 19
FRANKFURT, May 19 (Reuters) - The DAX top-30 index looked set to open 0.8 percent higher on Tuesday, according to pre-market data from brokers at 0610 GMT.
Factors that may move German stocks on Tuesday (share price indications at 0610 GMT):
PORSCHE , VW
Porsche indicated 1.4 percent higher
Volkswagen indicated 0.6 percent higher
The Porsche and Piech families are expected this week to discuss getting merger negotiations back on track after talks had come to a halt over the weekend, the Financial Times newspaper reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
"The families will have to agree on clear guidelines for further negotiations. On this basis the talks could resume," the paper quotes a person close to one of Porsche´s shareholders.
Separately, the government of German state Baden-Wurttemberg could grant 2 billion euros ($2.71 billion) or more in state guarantees to Porsche, Stuttgarter Zeitung reported, citing no sources.

German publishing group Holtzbrinck is looking for a partner for its post business and is in negotiations with Dutch TNT , German business daily Financial Times Deutschland reported, citing no sources.

The German retailer´s Chief Executive Karl-Gerhard Eick told German daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung he opposed peer Metro´s proposal to combine the two companies´ department store chains.

Indicated 2.3 percent higher
TUI Travel said on Tuesday its operating loss widened by 15 percent in the first half, reflecting the impact of exchange rate movements and weaker trading in Canada and France.

The European Court of Justice is to rule on German pharmacy regulation.

Germany´s BaFin financial watchdog has informed the Finance Ministry that it has had to scale down bank supervision activity to focus on a parliamentary inquiry of Hypo Real Estate.

The company said its convertible bond issue, which generated proceeds of 181.5 million euros ($244.5 million), was oversubscribed several times.
